Concept
Fed by an underground spring, the pond was the main water supply for New York City in the early eighteenth century. A stream flowed north out of the pond and then west to the Hudson River, while another stream from the southeast led to the East River. To celebrate the history and unique functions that this place once offered, YYA's design takes its inspiration from the natural underground spring and streams that people once enjoyed, and simulates them to serve the current environment and people of New York City.
